Strategic Litigation Camp on Death Penalty: Effective Defence for Capital Punishment Cases Using the KL Guidelines

Participants will take part in practical sessions, discussions, and case-based exercises using the KL Guidelines, designed to strengthen their understanding of the death penalty cases and the advocacy work surrounding it.

KL Guidelines is a Regional Guidelines for Lawyers Representing Individuals Facing the Death Penalty and Execution in Asia.

Due to limited slots, the selection process will be highly competitive. Only 15 slots available!

Who are we looking for?

This camp is preferred for practicing lawyers with less than five (5) years of experience in practice, who are interested in learning about the death penalty and developing skills to represent individuals facing capital punishment.

All genders and background are welcomed. 


Tentative Agenda:

  • Introduction to the International and Local Laws on the Death Penalty
  • Introduction to the KL Guidelines
  • Sharing session by Ex-Inmate and Senior Law Practitioners
  • Moot Court Session

The training is fully sponsored by MCCHR through grant funding from its benefactors. As a condition of this sponsorship, all selected participants are required to attend and actively participate in all sessions throughout the camp.
