The blawg started 20 years ago with a post arguing that nobody needs a platform or a position to hold an opinion worth hearing, only accuracy and logic. From there a community of several hundred writers grew, along with UndiMsia!, the LoyarBurokkers’ gatherings, and in 2011 a centre of its own.
Today the work continues through Pusat Rakyat LoyarBurok, aka the Malaysian Centre for Constitutionalism and Human Rights (MCCHR). For the past 15 years MCCHR has worked to protect human rights and promote democracy through civic education, strategic litigation, and law reform.
On the eve of Human Rights Day, join us for one evening with the people who built all this and the people it was built for. Dinner, with short presentations from the founders and the MCCHR team on what 2027 holds, live performances in between, and a protest art show. All proceeds from LoyarBurok 20 go to MCCHR’s 2027 programme.
Dinner is served from 7pm
