MCCHR logo set, colour palette, and typography are essential parts of our visual identity. They help in maximising recognition, trust, and emotional connection with the target audience by consistently conveying the essence of the organisation. Using the MCCHR brand assets effectively unlocks opportunities to better communicate the organisation’s core message not just visually but also viscerally and cognitively.

Logo set

The MCCHR logo is based on a roof-shaped symbol that represents the idea of all Malaysians coming together as a movement championing human rights and democracy for all. The roof design takes the form of the Chinese word for ‘human’, 人 (rén). This symbol embodies the principle that “all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights” (article 1 of UDHR).

The logo essentialises this iconic element within a fluid triform that represents the three integral concepts of human rights: universality, inalienability, and indivisibility. The brand identity celebrates MCCHR’s contribution to human rights progress in Malaysia through civic education, strategic litigation, and law & policy reform for more than a decade.

Legacy logo set

You may use legacy MCCHR logo and the campaign logo for UndiMsia! in appropriate contexts, especially in materials produced before the brand update in October 2024.

Treatments

Negative space

Standard, stacked, expanded, and extended logotypes should always be enclosed by a negative space (or also known as white space). As a rule of thumb, this negative space should be at least one tenth the height and the width of the triform mark.

Correct treatment with negative space

Incorrect treatment without negative space

Background colour

If the colour of the background is similar to any of the colours in the logo, use the single colour logo and set it to a contrasting colour. This makes all parts of the logo stand out rather than blend into the background.

Correct treatment on a yellow background

Incorrect treatment on a yellow background

Colour palette

Use RGB (red, green, and blue) for digital content such as websites, social media, and slide presentations, as this format is optimised for screens. CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, and key/black) should be used for printed materials, as it ensures colour accuracy in physical outputs. Always check the colour format before finalising your design to ensure the best results for both digital and print media.

Secondary colours

These secondary colours complement the MCCHR colour palette and are useful when you need options to introduce more colours in your communications. You may use any combination of these colours in your visuals or graphics. Avoid using too many colours in a piece of content as it may get distracting. Use these colours to accentuate certain elements of your visuals or graphics.

Noto Serif Condensed is a versatile serif font that adds a formal, professional tone to longer texts, such as reports and publications. It is designed for readability across a range of languages and character sets, making it ideal for our diverse content.

PT Sans Pro Condensed, a clean and modern sans-serif font, is used for headings, subheadings, and shorter text blocks. Its condensed style allows more text to fit without sacrificing legibility, making it a practical choice for both digital and print materials.

These typefaces are available as fully licensed fonts via MCCHR’s Adobe account. Use Adobe Fonts (formerly Typekit) on websites and supported apps in the Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office suites. You may need to sign in to Adobe and activate it on your computer first. If this option is not available, you may use other variants of Noto Serif and PT Sans, for example:
